My Mom

As the mind drifts into the depths of darkness,
And memory the only companion of solitude.
The tears flow unbounded like the ocean,
Salty to the taste and vast.
I feel a hand on me,
A touch that speaks volumes in silence.
One that I am familiar with,
A touch that has lulled me to sleep.
And now brings sunshine,
Through the blanket of despair.
I am attracted to the light,
Like an insect in the dark.
I feel the warmth and the depth of love envelop me,
Shattering the silence of emptiness.
And brings me back from the black hole that beckons,
To the adoration and companionship of this person
I call my MOM.
