My Little Miss Universe

The very moment I heard of your coming,
 I cried for joy. And I prayed that--
If you, my first grandchild's a boy,
 You will grow up to be
 Just like your dad...
A most decent and caring young man that
 I have ever been blessed to meet and
Have for a son... And if a girl,
 You will grow up to be
 Just like your mom...
An angel of a daughter to us--
 Your lolo and lola.

And today, after what seemed like forever
 Waiting for the answer, I received this
 Text message from your mother:
"Hi Dad. You are having a granddaughter!
 Sorry, no grandson, yet. Love you!"

And kissing and raising my cell phone--
 Way up over my head, I tearfully praise
 And pray to God that--
Like your mother, you will be an angel
 To your loving parents. And, just
Like your mom, my Miss Universe--
 The very moment--she was born,
As your proud...very, very proud lolo,
 I declare to all and sundry that
Even before you were born...
 You already are My Little Miss Universe.
