My identity

Ask me my name and I'll pronounce it with funny accent,
My clothing is of a foreign breed to boost my rank,
Don't take my language so seriously, it is second class,
Discard my food, yours tastes better, will you teach me?

Why do I find it difficult to stand for me?
And why should I not be taken so not seriously?
Even in my home the truth is glaring to an infant
Our culture is not celebrated, so get over it quickly.

Culture as the future, present and history is now history,
I'm just being “born again” into some new culture,
Some hybrid I must be, I can't wait to see my outcome,
Let me guess, identity crisis whilst colleagues age gracefully.
