My heart hurts

It bends and breaks and tears a hole
It wrinkles and folds and shatters its core
It makes it hard to breathe at all
And every morning that you are gone my heart will fall

Through the day, I caress it with encouragement
I give it the necessary nourishment
I ease the pain with good treatment
And all seems well for a brief moment

But as the hours role on by
Towards the end is when I defy
Tears stream down, so I cry
I can no longer live this lie

At night alone in my bed
The loneliness, how much I dread
You walked away from me, you fled
Our love is shattered, it is dead
