My Heart

My heart it tears a little more everyday
I keep on fighting but can't get away
When will it stop? I can no longer feel
Will my heart ever heal?

Do I deserve this pain that persists?
Should I not even exist?
Why is it that my heart always shatters?
Is it something that just doesn't matter?

This cycle just keeps on spinning around
Soon my heart will hit the ground
The passer bys will stop and stare
And wonder what its doing there

Lying on the ground it doesn't move
It sits there helpless with nothing to loose
All the life is gone and the bleeding has ended
It will lay there forever and never be mended

Last night was good
It was my heart that thrived
For an actual moment
I thought it would survive

I laughed and had fun
With someone who cares
And does not judge me for
Information I share.

I felt so alive, so free, and so calm
I actually felt as if nothing was wrong
Then reality struck and again I was alone
When I walked my body into my home

In bed I lay with memories in my mind
Thinking about how my smile did shine
Swinging and talking in the dark
I will never forget that night in the park.

Most of my poetry came from my past relationships. I generally write when I'm down and out but would really like to change that. I want to start writing again and work on becoming a better poet. Its a great form of release for me - similar to meditation (which I certainly can't do!) Hope you enjoy. more…
