My Grandmother Walton

My grandmother passed away last night.
I cannot stop crying; I feel so alone.
You see she was like a Mom to me.
We laughed, we cried; and did things we shouldn't.

But now I have a wonderful array of memories to hold.
I would often look to her with admiration in my heart.
Hoping that I could fill only a portion of the huge
footsteps she would one day leave behind.

My only wish now is that she suffers no more.
That she is finally at peace and has found her husband.
Somewhere over the rainbow to heaven.
And she is again restored to happiness and spirit.

This is how I will heal from this painful loss.
I will not allow myself to be stubborn or selfish.
To insist that God should not have taken her.
But I will be grateful and thankful that He did.
For that is where my grandmother wanted to be.
