My Dearest

Surrounded by party scene,
I only see my future groom;
love at first sight;
with one look, I knew.
Not a care in the world for anyone but you;
my life is yours, dear Montague.
Our love is forbidden,
we're told to stay apart;
not to see you breaks my heart.
I miss you all this time you're gone;
to meet you again fills my thoughts.

I whisper secret words to my dearest Romeo:
"Take my hand, away we will go.
Just the two of us,
living happily together,
away from our controlling fathers and mothers.
Plans to escape set my heart soaring;
seemingly perfect, but troubles are following.

A simple mix-up,
unspoken clarification;
enough to steal you away from me.
Love lost kills like the poison in your veins;
I scream your name silently,
muted words from your undead bride.
I wake to find you beside me;
no heart's gentle beat,
no voice's soft ring.
Cursed to live without you;
an impossible feat.
With nothing else to do,
I set the dagger to my chest;
you and I together, forever laid to rest.
