MY DADDY .....at age 8

His fist hits me right in the face
my missing teeth he cannot replace.
The thrill and enjoyment of beating his child
the look in his eyes animalistic and wild.
The guilty feelings after the fact
never telling, keeping our family pact.
Alone and afraid I wait in the dark
he will be coming the great italian shark.
chasing me through the basement so he can lay me a blow
running so fast with nowhere to hide or go.
I'm small, I'm a child someone help me please
stop my suffering lord and bring me ease.
I'm punching, kicking, fighting for air
praying to be saved by someone out there.
I'm scared and alone with not one friend
I can truly feel i'm reaching the end.
tortured at school my homelife a mess
no longer do i want to live, i must confess.
all I have to do is make it to the staircase
run as fast as I can & get to a safe place.
