Murphy’s Law

Today’s’ another day unlike yesterday I am told.
But each and every one is unique in the troubles that it brews.
To solve all my problems I call on all those good old Patron Saints.
And the Catholic Church has Patron Saints I can pray to for everything.

As I get up each morning I pray to St. Martha the protector of all housewives.
I usually need St. Christopher while going to the door, to simply find my way.
Then St. Camillas is real handy if I trip and fall getting there, needing aide.
And when I write my poems its St. Cecelia to whom for words I pray.
As my children leave for school its St. Pancras to get them there and back home safe.
And when they give me a headache I ask St. Dennis to take it away.
I pray to St Ambrose as my learned children bring report cards home from school.
And as my children’s music goes loud its St. Cecelia I beg to- change it in any way.
When they get in trouble my kids like St. Gerard since they were falsely accused.
And with any time out, I send St. Hippolytus to guard their prison room.
Each month as I pay the rent it’s to St. Margaret I ask… so we won’t be homeless soon.
And when I face my crazy neighbor… its St. Eustace to calm me down.
As the dogs misbehave- I ask St. Roch to stop them just once more.
And when I’ve had a really bad day its St Dymphna I ask why I shouldn’t run away.

I’m not even Catholic but I like to hedge my bets…
Since I wouldn’t need any of these saints if just one weren’t already my best friend.
St. Murphy from Murphy’s Law sits upon my shoulder each and every day.
He keeps telling me not to worry… if it can go wrong it will go wrong any way.
He’s my Patron Saint who loves me most of all…
And I can see why the Catholic Church won’t claim him… no not at all.

Born in 1952. Live in St.Louis, Missouri. I write mostly poetic stories about people, stories, and experiences. I don't use my real name. There's already someone famous in photography with my name. The confusion would be worse. I'm happy the way it is. I have epilepsy, and still became a chemist for 1 month shy of 30 years. When the company folded I went on disability due to many health problems. I lost my retirement, and almost my home. But like that old wornout poet, I won't give up. I hope you enjoy my work. My husband often helps me pick topics and ideas. He has helped me write a few, also. I write most but he has the imagination for the funny ones. We have been married 32 years. Shakespeare wrote poetic plays to entertain. My poetic stories are meant to entertain, too. I won the daily contest for "The Old Worn Out Poet" 9-27-2010 and "The Truth of Being Born" 2-19-2011. "The Teen" was published in :Sunflowers and Seashells: Days Remembered". If some of my poems suddenly vanish it's because I'm trying to sell a few to help put my son through Nursing College.I was in the hospital again but will resume writting soon... Love to all of you I missed so much...Contact me at eastmanproperties@mindspring.com more…
