Mourning Sunrise

Like lips painted red,
dawn has broken,
leaving pieces of shattered
stained glass everywhere,
all reflecting the sun.

As the night fades
from the conscious mind,
know a new day has started,
come what may,
come what might.

After crude tears of darkness
have finally gone and left,
the sunrise greets you,
standing passerby,
to keep you moving.

Without the light
to light you way,
you would have fallen
into the darkness,
looking up from below.

Do not worry now,
the nightmares are gone,
the pain has receded,
go on now, dear child,
in the rays of the sun.
