Mountain Prayer

Atop a hill, I stood tonight,
And viewed the wonder of God's might,
The land stretched out for all to see,
A site so great it humbles me.

I pray that physically, I'll be strong,
As a mountain stream as it flows along,
That morally, I stand high,
As the highest mountain, or that great blue sky.

I pray that mentally, I do my best
That spiritually, I meet each test,
That I never betray anyone's trust
my people . . . my land,

Till I, at my final judgment stand.

Thank you, Lord, for this precious day.
Yes! I am gay, and came that way.
After I've lived my life, and the near draws near,
Judge me, Lord, as a Mountaineer.
