Mother

To the one of my beginning,
To the one who gave me birth.
I write these feelings from my heart
That you may know your worth.
You taught me that there was a God,
And that our lives should please Him.
You showed me how to share in love,
When there seemed to be no reason.
But the most important lesson of all
Was your commitment to your husband,
Instead of quitting and giving up
You stood, and continued to love him.
The Bible says a good tree
Gives forth good fruit.
I pray to God that I may be held worthy
To come from such as thee.
