Morning Serenity

Autumn leaves framed on my computer,
an image of our front garden
in the small hours of dawn,
orange, brown, red and yellow,
reflect the early sun,
as it vainly tries to warm a frosty morning.

The hue, unexpected, resplendent, vibrant,
reminds me of Keats' "Ode to Autumn".
Better than a landscape by Constable,
more defined than a Monet,
it depicts the hour of morning serenity.

Into my room it brings the outside scene,
unseen by me,tucked in my warm bed,
forgotten by early morning walkers,
too brisk and busy
to notice its vivid beauty.

I have it whenever I desire,
in my own room, captured forever.
Outside it may never return
the way it was that morning.
