Morel Hunter

Creeping through the woodland, searching.
Careful not to step on them.
Special, little mushrooms sprouting.
They look quite like little men
in pointed hats of honeycomb, glowing
sunlight flaming through their weave.
Little gnome-like heads are peeping
from under logs, and brush, and leaves.
Earthen goodness comes each Springtime
as the snow melts from the land.
Wondrous beauty, growing briefly.
Amazing life held in my hand.
