MIR Spacestation

Bought back down after all those years,
The MIR station used by world pioneers,
Up in space what an intriguing feat,
A special place where astronaughts meet.
It's usefullness over costs are too high,
The 'used by date' brings tears to eye,
Many discoveries- were seen and born,
Pity the equipment was tired and worn,
Oh the problems-they threatened lives,
Yet over time it triumphs and survives,
All the experiments, observations and tests,
Herald an awakening on which MIR rests,
Scientists and technicians have much to do,
Collecting and assessing points of view,
After splash down in the Pacific Ocean
Tomorrows'assured-colonisation's in motion,
With what's gained from hundreds of souls,
Man can achieve far greater goals.

I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
