magical morning (dawn)

On this magical morning just before dawn.
A walk to my pond cant take very long.
The mist is still heavy and
the air is so cold.
My dogs run ahead of me,
like champions bold.
Twilight has not yet broken the spell,
that magic of darkness that we all know so well.
To watch the night's blackness washing away,
is a taste of heaven in every new day.
This endless struggle will always go on.As long as dusk lies awaiting THE DAWN.

i am 44 years old born on long island. i am a carpenter by trade ,27 years in a trade union but my passion was always nature and a life that was outside the man made world, that was thrust upon me. poetry was my escape ..i know there are many avid readers and learned teachers out there, so excuse my spelling. i can convey the thoughts better than spell the words correctly.so don't "monk" out and just dig the meanings.i have no formal education past 10 grade:) more…

Great poem. Soon as I read it I knew it was you. It reminded me of walking your pups on the trail in Massapeque. I posted some poems too under michael gilheany
