Lovers' Lament

D D

A broken heart will always mend
With time is what they say
But you never truly realize love
Until it's gone away

I'm not sure if what they say is true
'cos my heart still aches with pain
My nights are much lonlier now
And my days are filled with rain

A smile, I tried, but really hide
Behind the many tears I've shed
If only the sun would shine again
Like it had when we first met

So I listen to myself, and wait
For that soft, whispering touch
Knowing that you still care for me
And I, for you as much

And as time grows, I've come to terms
With what we had always known
That it could never have been for either of us
As we continue to suffer alone
