Lovelorn

Derrick Puente


I fall in love five times a week
Sometimes in just one day
Could be lust
Love lacking trust
But I dive in anyway
I count my cause
Just like the sea
Outnumbered by its waves
Yet all in all, with each footfall
I take the spring by storm
For I know the winter creeps
Upon the crouching lion
To take his breath and wantonness
And turn the fires to rain.
