Love's elemental flame

There was a time
I knew only thrill
Of body aching
From its heart's desire.
But now the glass
Of passing years
Reflects the image
Of another fire

Than any heat
Could burn before.
An elemental flame
To light recesses
Of studied minds,
And tease all outward
Passion with its game.
Played out in thought, in act, in touch;
