Love left me wanting

I kissed him good-bye for the last time
Watched his figure disappear into the sunset
And squinted my eyes to the bitter end
Swearing I wouldn't miss a second of it.

As he turned away from me I caught a chill
All the hairs on my arms stood up
As if to say, "we're going to fight this"
But they didn't. And I didn't either.

Finally, there was nothing left but a blur
His shadow too had disappeared
I stood motionless, quiet, empty
Wondering how it was he made me feel so full

When love is gone, you know it.
Maybe you don't expect it to go, but it does.
