Lonesome Tear

Stars tripped lightly overhead,
The moon sailed cross the sky.
I gazed into your radiant eyes,
And prayed I would not cry.

The waves broke gently on the shore,
The wind caressed your cheek.
I longed to hold you in my arms,
My soul ached to hear you speak.

Secrets murmured from your lips,
Like gossamer grazed my ears.
Though your story sad it sang with truth,
Then came that one sweet tear.

Trickling tenderly down your face,
More beautiful than the bejeweled sky.
To kiss away that lonesome tear,
For that dear one I'd die.
