Little Candy Wrappers

Sitting on these cold damp steps out of
the rain, things just seem to pass me by,
Water flows along the kerb with a little
candy wrapper caught in the torrent of
water heading towards the drain, I sit
and wonder about that wrapper, who ate
the candy, sweet treat for a childs pain maybe,
Scraped knees or grazed elbows after a fall
candy helps stop the tears, something sweet
                                            dispel their fears.

Think I'll buy me a jar and fill it with candy,
give each peice away and keep the wrappers
come in handy, leave them at the side of the kerb
before the rains fall, find me some steps, see them
candy wrappers flow, hearing the drains call.
