Listen through the clothes line, hung loosely in the air

Listen to the thin thread, holding it all together
Listen to its recollection of the seasons and the weather
Listen long and mighty proud to stories of this town
Listen across the open fields where spring received her crown
Listen to the sounds painting the wind, a pass-time art
and sometimes you can close your eyes, and listen with your heart
