Light It Up

Yeah, they told me that I “talk white”
Told me that my sound bites
Told me that I would amount to nothin’
that don’t even sound right
‘Cause I don’t play by their rules
And I ain’t livin’ for your approval
You either let the beat run over you
Or let the rhythm move you

Imma say what I gotta say
Do What I was born to do
Break chains that hold me down
Put up a wall, I’m runnin’ through it
My only limitation is a limitless environment
No brakes, boy; no days off; don’t even think about retirement

Fire breathin’, Life given
Lyrics on that nitrous
Never claimed to be the one you’d love -
I ain’t tryin’ to make your hotlist
Only wish I got:
Wish they would try and stop me
You can play the paint and box me out
But no one’s gonna block this

Real short, but I’m quick wit’ it
My bars are long ‘cause I’m quick-witted
Take a phrase and then turn it out
I’ll chop it up and get sick wit’ it
Take a beat and murder it
No grave can hold my body down
Was on that walking dead
And there I laid til I was finally found

Son’s up, new day
Old school in a new way
Strike a match over everything
From California to Broadway
Light it up like the night sky
Jeff Goldblum - too fly
Picture perfect, paid in full
I’m Red nation, 2-ply

I’m the one ya mama warned ya ‘bout
Boogie man from the dirty south
Black, young, gifted, crazy…
Only truth comin’ out my mouth
Only thing I’m bringing is a thesis for the realness
Hot bars for a cold world
So raw; can’t help but feel this
