Life Is a Lonely, and Difficult Thing

Life is a lonely, And difficult thing
And we are mere puppets, Tied up with string
I look in the mirror, And what do I see
Hopeless despair, Staring back at me
I remember the teachings, Of long ago
The manners and morals, That helped me grow
Into the man, That I am now
With all of the pain, And all of the doubt
No one seems to have learned things, Quite like I did
About right and wrong, When I was a kid
I look at the world, And it makes me sigh
I stare out the window, And I start to cry
Why can't it be like, I thought it would
Why can't I live like, I know I should
Why must there be hatred, And killing and crime
Why must this life rob us, Of all of our time
Why don't people care, About Jesus' love
Why don't people pray, To our God above
No one can tell me, What tomorrow will bring
Life is a lonely, And difficult thing
