Life Changing for the Good

I use to be the one they pushed around in my youth,
I use to be the laugh of a joke told by a friend,
I use to be the one they hated to see coming...

I've always been the prodigal son,
I've always been the one that apologized first,
I've always been the one to share a feeling...

I use to be the one for a time that didn't care,
I use to be the one that lived life on the dark side,
I use to be the one that looked forward to the next incarceration...

I've always tried to do my best,
I've always tried to love,
I've always hid away in a cold dark well...

I'm not one that likes to be touched,
I'm not one for cuddling,
I'm not one for sharing affection...

I don't know why I am the way I am,
I don't know why people try to be something they're not,
I don't know why I have what I have...

I've always questioned everything and everyone,
I've always walked on a lonely path of hope,
I've always cried in my faith when left alone...

I've been told life would be better if I was dead,
I've been told to go to hell and never return,
I've been told I was a worthless piece of sh--...!

I've always lived within a kaleidoscopic realm with the Holy Spirit,
I've always believed that Jesus is my Savior,
and,
I've always believed that God is my Creator...

I always knew I was more than the negativity that surrounded me...
Keep your head and hopes up high... peace
