Life

I'm sick and yet I'm well.
I'm full but empty still.
My heart grows wings,
Yet they are clipped by inhibition.

Like a butterfly tossed in the wind,
I pull and fight and try,
To only hold my own for a moment.

My bones seem to crack,
My blood to disperse,
My muscles weaken,
I fall, then rise.

What is causing this double standard?
What throws me to and fro
In this dance the wind is pushing me into?

I wish only for it to end.
The next moment to it I cling.
There is something about this
Roller coaster ride I am on.

Adrenaline rush,
Heart rate high,
Spirit soaring.

Maybe one day it can be explained,
This course of life.
Or maybe we are destined to only ride the waves,
And rely on those near us.
