Letting Go

Every morning I open my eyes,
Look at the world around me,
And slowly realize,
That I am finally letting go.
Every day I want to scream,
Beware of others,
For they aren't what they seem,
But instead I yell "I'm letting go."
Everything I have ever told myself,
And all lies told to me,
I have put on a dark shelf,
Glad to be letting go.

{FIRST LET ME SAY THAT I AM VERY THANKFUL TO ALL THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN READING AND REVIEWING MY WORK: AND LEAVING POSITIVE, RESPECTFUL AND CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK! YOU HAVE REALLY HELPED TO INSPIRE ME TO START WRITING AGAIN. I NO LONGER HAVE WRITERS BLOCK. YOU'VE ALSO HELPED ME TO SEE THAT I TRULY AM MY OWN WORST CRITIC! I REALLY AM THANKFUL TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT!} I have been shocked by all of the reviews and ratings that I have gotten over the last few weeks. I have had a really bad case of writer's block. Though, I have had PLENTY to write about!!! You all have certainly keep me on my toes; replying to all of your feedback! NOW....... I am a single mother of 3 beautiful, talented children. I would move Heaven and Earth for my children. They mean the world to me. I have been married and divorced twice. Their fault or mine, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm better off. As are my kids. I have been writing poems for about 18 years now. I started when I was about 14 years old. Several have been published and won me various awards. On this website alone I have 31 pages of poems. My talent isn't the greatest. My poems range from mediocre to good, to great. Even I see that. I am my own person. I have a unique personality and it shows in my work. I am vulgar, profane, sarcastic and I tend to be a smartass. But, that's just who I am. I don't hide from it. I don't make excuses for it either. I have anxiety and depression issues and that takes control of my life a lot of the time, so that shows in my poetry most of the time. My "bad days" are more frequent than my "good" ones. So, there you have it. This is who I am, in a nutshell. more…
