Let Me Die The Death Of The Righteous*

Lots of us adored reward
but when it came to earn
we aborted performance
and saw all bridges burn

Balaam lived a life of sin
but when he came to die
he desired a worthy win
though his way did belie

Upshot was held inactive
but when it came to reap
it made outcome finalize
to pay back all who sleep

*Balaam said "Let me die the death of the righteous."
