Lawns and lawnmowing

Plant and sow in a well prepared bed,
Roll it out and see its well fed,
Cut and mow but give it time,
Once fully established it really looks fine.

Then mow regularly to keep it right,
Over the years it's a remarkable sight,
Lovely and neat soft and green,
It all depends on the mowing machine.

Originally hand pushed and the type a reel,
Trimmed to perfection and the texture you feel,
Time after time it stood the test,
But with motorisation we had a rest

Petrol and electricity development was great,
Then the rotary we could hardly wait,
Those taller grasses also easy to control,
That particular motion really was the goal.

Now its robotics and don't touch at all,
It is ideal whether big small,
Electric and automatic silent and sweet,
Even self charging which you can't beat.

Within its boundary its back and forth,
East and west also south and north,
When powers low it'll replug on its own,

Sales have increased now that it is known.

I have been writing poems for forty years and written about all sorts of things. Somehow I get creating streaks and can write up to 4 or 5 poems at once of varying subjects. I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
