Laughter

She walks into the room
a gentle laugh, a nervous smile.
Searching for something, a friend perhaps.
Hiding the hurt learned long ago
the laughter protects her always now.
Strangers all, yet undeterred
ready to share, eyes aglow.
The love is there, a gift from above
prayer before gives her strength.
Words spoken, voices heard
questions asked, dreams revealed.
Trust is born, friendship blossoms.
Laughter received, hearts less torn.
She lights up the room, a young girl's laugh
awe and wonder touch us all.
I have felt it, God's love is there.
A precious gift is her laughter near,
but as important is her answered prayer.
She walks into the room, a gentle laugh
searching for someone to share her love.
