Just Make an X if You Cannot Write Your Name

beginning to see
the end result
of parental neglect
across the nation,
children are pretending
to be adults,
kids are not playing
with each other,
instead their playing
with robotical toys,
i-pads, i-pods, video games,
texting to whoever will return
their ramblings, learning to kill
people for fun, instead of animals
for food,
no one telling them
that there is more to Life,
than sitting on the couch
clued to Sponge Bob or
MTV,
someone should,
they really should,
before it's too late
to salvage what's left
of their minds,
most students fail
to see the importance
of manners, oral communication,
or skills other than being able
to turn on a computer
to find everything in the world,
they need to search for Life
in all the right places,
take chances,
share experiences,
failures and successes,
they need to learn how to write,
not fight, how to empathize
and sympathize with others,
they need to see the need
for learning in order for them
to teach the children
they are now having so young,
then again,
so many mothers and fathers
have taught their children
the same ways
they have chosen to travel
that the road we're all on
may soon be a dead end.
