Joy From Sorrow

A man who gives and wants nothing but your smile,
What he would do just to see it for a while,
Afraid to show his own, even alone in his home,
So everyday in his head, negative thoughts would roam,
He never accepted compliments because of his pride,
He was trying to be humble, so he trapped them inside,
Not as a compliment, but a subtle insult instead,
Then he was mocked and tortured by the thoughts in his head,
You would never guess, or even see it in his eyes,
Because even though he was honest, he was the master of lies,
Never to another person, but only to himself,
One could not begin to fathom, the state of his mental health,
A few close friends and a mother, who noticed barely,
They would would offer some help on occasion rarely,
This man used his aggression and his creative expression,
And asked God for a blessing to end his depression,
Like a Lotus Flower he opened his petals to mankind,
With a smile and a loving heart he began to shine,
Mocked by the weak, and praised by the strong,
This man had been the work of God all along.
