Jeffrey Pease

My little town of Possum Run
Small as it could be;
Possum High saw footballs fly
As they were thrown by me.

Seniority was my glory days
Courting my queen was fun;
Our two full years of happiness
Was suddenly over and done.

Unknown hands tore out my heart
Handing it willingly back;
My queen was not my queen any longer
She was compellingly washed from my hands.

Battered and bruised by this unkindly news
Lead me to the streets;
Were drugs and alcohol were there to make me happy and complete.

Reaching out for a life boat
Drifting into dreams
My sister was all I could think about
Reminiscing in my sleep.
