It Won

It keeps me shackled in ropes and chains,
constricing my every move.

I want to get up and run to you,
but I'm forced to stay still.

I see you walk away from me.
It won't let me go.

I'm bound and gagged in spite of myself.
You go through the door.

I wonder why you don't come and help me.
Can't you see what it's doing?

The door closes behind you and I begin to cry.
Then, I realize the truth.

You can't see what's happening to me.
I won't let you.

I'm ashamed for letting it do this,
So I withdrew from the world.

You got tired of waiting around for me.
It did what it wanted to do.

It caused me to push you away.
I let it win and I lost you.
