It Can't Be Said

It can't be said, "They gave their lives or chose to sacrifice."
The fact is they were murdered
and paid the awful price.
It can't be said, "They had no fear or chose to face the fire."
The fact is it took courage
to overcome desire.
It can't be said, "It's closure time or move on to replace."
The fact is there's vacancy
and a deep empty space.
It can't be said, "The way you feel is well know to us all."
The fact is grief is unique
to whom it may befall.
It can't be said, "Another love will supersede the old."
The fact is no substitute
can return the heart's hold.
It can't be said, "Leave it to fate, it's what was meant to be."
The fact is flame was snuffed out:
it feels like thievery.
