Internet - Boon or Bane

Unique communication by mankind  – stunning fountain of information
Not the radio or television biox, it's the internet the greatest invention
Gave living with people across the globe a new dimension
Connecting one and all from every corner of the globe in unison

Excitement and exuberance enthralled the users
Information that flowed like the flooded inundated rivers
Young and even the old seemed addicted to the chatter and blather
A click of the button was the cliché – Lo life was filled with glamour

Student projects seemed so much more real and achievable
Business conferences didn't need counterparts to travel
Mama didn't have to wrack her brain to cook a sumptuous meal
Nor did Dad have to juggle with financesseemed so surreal

An email was the first giant leap – a novice beginning so meek
Soon advanced to videos, gadgets and gizmos finally invented the geek
Leaped into You Tube and facebook - then humble personal computing
Found its friend in its miniature version –the mobile phone so eluding

Alas! Misery Struck! The boon was soon transformed into a bane
Addiction, cybercrime, depression a few acts  difficult to constrain
The medium deemed “Hero” a few years ago was now christened
A problem creator rather than a problem solver - the true villain

Ironically history changed from the bright spectrum of positives
Into bleak trust unfurling the dark pages of suspicion and negativity
The dangers attached with the internet are so difficult to fathom
Abuse and malice seemed the key factors to achieve teen freedom

An appeal –a sincere one to all out there especially dear students like me
Beware! This invention should never ever cause doomsday for us to see
Let's strive to keep our senses – hearing, listening and seeing creative
Explore and not explode ourselves into this world – an act so imperative

The adage says –It's never too late to make a new beginning
Practice what we've read – lets go surfing – take care no drowning
The internet is definitely a hero for all of us – in this tech savvy generation
It's time to cherish our prized possession for posterity and our fortification
