Interlocking Fears and Love

Dear little one, listen close,
do not fear the Love that comes
knocking on your door,
begging you to let it in.
Do not build walls of brick,
of cement, of mortar,
but leave your heart wide open,
leave the doors unlocked, unbarred.
Love will come to you,
of that I am sure,
for it was Love that torn down
my own walls.
Love crept in through the best
building of mine,
The little Dove came in
through deep, dark shadows.
What happened, you ask?
Horrible things, terrible things,
hard and painful things
almost impossible to go through.
But then,
Beauty opened my eyes,
and Sincerity took my hands
to lead me from my own protection.
