In My Mind's Eye (1 of 3)

When I was young a long, long time ago
(In another world so far, far away),
In my mind's eye, we were very, very rich
In every which way, as all the others...
All ten thousand plus of us, sea-and-sun-
Loving people of Virac (Catanduanes).
Every family had a farm where pigs, goats
And chicken and water buffalos and cows
Roam the fields of rice and corn free.
Every man, woman and child in
Every family was not just a friend and
Neighbor, but a "nonoy or boboy,
A manoy or papay and a caca or manay."
Where I am now, twenty five thousand plus
Of them legal and illegal are living, err...
Dying in the streets of the city.
