Impressive

There are times for all of us,
When we wish we could impress,
All those who are around us,
To show them better than our best.

We want those who in their minds,
Who locked us up in fetters,
To in their hearts feel that they,
Should have acted better.

We also want to certain people,
Our greatest gifts to show,
Just so we could these ones,
In some small way to know.

We all discover soon enough,
To our deep displeasure,
That showing off to all the world,
Doesn’t change it any measure.

We still feel sad and lonely,
Think that others all have friends,
But if that was all that life was,
The poem here would end…

For if one looks deeper,
Into his very soul,
He’ll find that there’s only one thing,
That will make him whole.

A friend that stays forever,
Who knows just what your worth,
Who doesn’t need to be impressed,
A friend not on this earth.

Jesus, God Almighty,
The greatest Friend there is,
He loves you because you are yourself,
Because you are His.
