Impossible

Wrote 3/5/2006
Untouched by this new light
A heart flees in fear
Hoping that it won't be sent back
Deep into darkness
With more anguish than before

It grows closer to the light
Curious of how much better it could be
Longing to feel the warmth of another's touch
Drifting towards a voice
Frozen-thoughts of previous flash before
Pieces are put together

Yet one is still missing
An empty, blank space
That is now a burden
Urging to let the light in
Silently the heart reaches out
Where the light slowly consumes it
Where only fingertips are left
To trace the missing piece

The heart glances back
Only to be overwhelmed with tears
Tears that fill and seep through
Like rain drops swelling a river
Does it truly want to give up the past
A collage of lost emotions
Or to face forward
Accept what surrounds it

A mistake, a ludicrous idea
Or is it a passion?
A passion so strong
That it possibly could be
The impossible love

Jillian Veitenheimer

My writing is a way for things to flow out of me that I didn't even know was within me. By sharing it with all the other poets out there I can rebuild my strength in myself. I can free my soul and let it soar in the stars. Let the wind rip me free of the being that carries my emotions. Poetry is my heart beat. more…
