Imagine

IMAGINE

    My eyelids flickered
and, gritting teeth
I created pictures
in disbelief
    opened windows
with dazzling colours
stunning rainbows
I soon discovered
    I felt mother's face
(which I knew so well)
looked out of place
(though I daren't tell)
    a delicate rose
proved such a joy
I'd remembered smelling
when a boy
    that precarious
old squeaky gate
which in a wind
I grew to hate
    the sea roared
blues and greens
every colour inbetween
in this pipedream
    so much fantasy
though sweet as wine
I'll never see
you see, I'm blind
