Imaginary Dreams

Illusions are made with mirrors,
the sky is black yet we see blue.
And like sheep we're led by shearers,
their reality blocks our view.

Flashing neons proposition youth,
as the city beckons with lights.
And the lambs rush to the slaughter,
unaware reality bites.

Seduced by magic elixirs,
drugs hold anxieties in check.
And doctors keep proscribing them,
until you're a physical wreck.

Politicians promise the world
yet provide substantially less.
And whenever they're caught lying,
they blame each other for the mess.

Parks attract drunks and criminals,
and no one is safe out at nights.
For the police might harass you,
while depriving you of your rights.

We live among possibilities,
where nothing is quite what it seems.
And thrive in never never land,
within imaginary dreams.

Many of my poems reflect the uniqueness and special circumstances of my upbringing. more…
