If I Were A Man

If I were a man,
I'd be a gentleman,
I'd have a story to tell,
And I'd treat my girl well.
I'd see beauty in all,
Dance with her at the ball,
But for the most part,
I would give her my heart.

Yes, she'd take what I'd give,
Knowing for her that I'd live,
But she'd only look back,
Miss her past; start to pack.
A vacation, I'd be,
She would have never loved me,
She'd want her perfect man
Who'd have millions a fan.

But he'd never come,
For a girl; he'd have some.
So my girl would return
To find my body would burn
From the pain she would cause
For her love's broken laws.
This would cause a change
And one would see the range
In this world oh so great,
She'd apologize; too late.

I would have been that gentleman,
But it all wouldn't have happened if I weren't a man.

So If I were a woman, I'd be young and pretty
However myself, I'd indubitably pity
For he'd try to be great though he'd just be so lame
I would not help but think he'd be playing a game.
I'd look in his eyes and hope for the best,
But he'd not be as perfect as the rest.
I'd leave him, but feel something wrong,
As if in my chest would be a blasting bomb.
I'd tell the other man, "oh boy, let me free!
The other was perfect; which I couldn't see!"
I'd miss my man's presence and come right back,
Walk in his house, leave the keys on the rack,
Our unity would have made the world go round,
I'd cry and caress his corpse on the ground.
He would have told the truth 'bout giving me his heart,
My leaving him would have torn us apart.
I'd wished I'd stayed; my depression would bloom in,
I'd think, "this wouldn't have occured if I weren't a woman."
