If I Only Knew It Then

Feeling the hot dust settle in my throat,
warm burning taste of whisky feels good,
been lying there for a while, only a bottle,
just had to be there today, looking real good,
almost looking like watered down tea,
tepid water tasted better yesterday,
where did that dust blow in from,
no-one told me I would ever like whisky,
cold beer in a snowstorm was good,
looked real good as the glass turned frosty,
just happened to be poured out mistakenly,
looked a bit like watered down coffee,
no-one told me I would ever like beer,
I put the whisky in my beer today,
never knew I would be addicted to water.
