sitting with no bail.

ive been to prison,
paying for my sin.

ive stared at 25-life behind bars,
nothing left but the stars.

ive drank from every bottle,
living life full throttle.

ive smoked in the crack house,
looking out the peep hole like a mouse.

ive searched the carpet for a lost hit,
for decades feeling like a misfit.

ive smoked from every tree,
nothing was able to set me free.

my first pill was at five,
what i saw wasnt alive,
it wasnt the last,
deep rooted was the past.

this was my life given,
making it hard for living.

the holy spirit my only friend,
not playing pretend,
my heart he does defend,
until my dying end.

the poison has been taken away,
its easier to look forward to another day,
theres so much more i could say,
but i know everything will be okay.

i know im not the only one,
paying dues under the sun.

freedom is the finish line,
its good to be feeling fine...
