I See a Pool of Light

I lay in the darkness,
After wandering so lost,
And I can only wonder
Was my freedom worth the cost?
After escaping from my prison,
My love left in the night,
I can only lie in wonder, thinking,
Was I wrong or was I right?
As a new prison in my mind surrounds me,
"NO!" I scream, "It wasn't worth it!"
I will always wonder, hungrily,
Can I help the love that I left?
Then in the darkness of my mind I halt
The building of my prisons,
And with all of my might
I call out for God's help
And through the denseness
I see a pool of My heaven's light.
