I Had Loved

I passed in that woods
just but yesterday.
Invested my feelings on it
wholeheartedly.
Walked the harsh trail,
clean the undergrowth.
Pretending all along
I was happy and good.

I tended to every caprice,
to wants and needs.
Endured the complaints
of the resident.

But try as I could
I failed to bear
that the woods I walked on,
loved and cared,
Had been owned and tended
by another hand.
