I Believe

I believe that spirits live in the tops of trees
Where the wind makes them moan and the sun makes them shine
Where they dance in the twirl of the golden leaves
And cast their shadows into the world of being.

I believe that love is a product of the mind
And begins when you can look into another's eyes
And perceive the edge of beauty - shimmering like a pearl
More real than dreams, less real than fear.

I believe that the stars are trapped against
The sphere of space; Each bleeding point of light
Like a nipple, oozing not a dream but a memory
Glistening through the dank folds of time.

I believe that death is the end of being
The end of the pulsating rhythm of life
When the brightness of the soul rots
Until all that's left is a bone of sorrow.

The things that I believe define my world
Enwrap my life in a film of faith
Color my mind with a spectrum of expectations
And leave me waiting for a truer reality.
