I Begged Heaven's Angels To Plead With God

And suddenly the whole world was alive
with fluttered smiles that grabbed utopia.
One week had passed by with a gentle ease,
no violent deaths had been reported nor
had any stories of rape or abuse -
sorrow had vanished into the past's mist.
Such delight, a contagious flow of love
and peace spread wings all over the world's face,
what great pleasure to wake up at dawn's light,
turn on the television and find that
someone had just been married on the moon,
humanity cheered as 'I do' floated
across space and kissed the earth's coloured winks.

With all of my heart laughing out loud streaks
of yes, I danced through the future's fine reams,
we had finally grown up as a race,
I begged Heaven's angels to plead with God,
to let this wondrous explosion of calm
last for eternity as I blessed man -
woman, for being a survivor now.
Generous excitement rushed me with hugs
as I fought to keep from springing to joy
too quickly, lest my eagerness to grin
was embraced without its streams of magic.
